As temperatures begin to drop, watering the cows becomes a more demanding daily task if one has to begin the day by breaking ice with an ax at 6 am. Or at least it does for Paul. It's nice and toasty in the house, but I digress.
The point is that we had a Ritchie automatic cattle waterer that prevents freezing installed last week. It was so nice to have a farm project completed by someone other than us that I couldn't help but take lots of photos. It was amazing to watch the professionals at work with some amazing tools for the job.

And happy people knowing there is fresh, clean water for the cows with no hoses involved!
Hello! Ruth from Ritchie here. We would love to share your post on Facebook if you wouldn't mind.
ReplyDeleteHI Scott, Ruth from Ritchie here. Typically you do not need to train the cattle or horses to drink from it. However, in the case that you would like to leave the water open for the cattle for training purposes, the white elliptical closures can be removed until you feel confident that they are drinking at the waterer regularly.
